Dr Amritash Rai - Child Psychiatrist

Dr Amritash Rai is a senior Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience in psychiatry in Australia, UK and India. 

He has worked as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in both inpatient and outpatient settings in Australia (Gold Coast & Fraser Coast) and the UK (Sheffield Childrens Hospital and Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust). Having worked in the Fraser Coast, Dr Rai is has local knowledge and familiar with the local health system as well as having links with a number of health professionals in the area.

Dr Rai is skilled at diagnosis and management of a range of mental health conditions including ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), Autism Spectrum Disorders, Depression and Anxiety disorders, PTSD, Trauma and Eating Disorders in children and young people. 

Dr Rai holds FRANZCP in addition to the MRCPsych, CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (UK) and an MD in Psychiatry in addition to other qualifications.

In his leisure time, he likes to spend time with his family, travel and read. He loves playing chess with his older son.

Dr Amritash Rai is a child psychiatrist who has been consulting privately once a month in Hervey Bay face to face and will continue to do so but he has decided to offer telehealth services.  Telehealth services are now available at different times, including after hours.  Patients can do this from the comfort of their home via skype. Dr Rai charges a fee for his face to face and Telehealth consultations.  In some instances, Dr Rai may deem it clinically more appropriate to see the patient first face to face rather than telehealth but this will be discussed with the patient and their parents when this situation arises. Dr Rai normally only sees patients who are under 18 years of age.
